VOICE BEHIND THE MUSIC

CRAFTED FROM THE SOUL

Adriano J. Brito, known artistically as Afro Dominicano, is a Dominican-born, New York–based musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges Afro-Caribbean folklore with global contemporary sounds.

His music is deeply informed by traditional forms such as merengue, palos, and folkloric percussion, yet shaped by the urban, diasporic experience of New York City.

A multi-instrumentalist, Brito is best known for his expressive use of the accordion, an instrument he reclaim recontextualizes to explore jazz, Afro-Cuban music, reggae, rock, and Afrobeat.

As a producer and arranger, he crafts music that is rhythm-forward, melodic, and socially conscious, often addressing themes of identity, migration, love, resistance, and celebration.

Beyond music, Brito is also a visual and digital artist, working under the alter ego Spanishaccentx, where he explores Afro-Caribbean identity, mythology, and futurism through digital art.
